PROFILE
John Curtis (b. 1966, Toronto, Canada) lives and works in New York City. After 25 years working in the City as an Architect, his pract focus is on watercolor paintings of people and places in Lower Manhattan. He also has a summer studio, in Northern Ontario, that likewise concentrates on his lifelong interests.
CURRENT WORK
John draws from his life experiences and travels to create works that are extremely contemplative. Using a combination of pencil lines and tonal value, John develops serial studies before committing paint to paper. His work often moves between representation and abstraction. The work is driven by a personal narratives and memory.
